Detroit’s powerhouse hip hop duo Black Lion Society (BLS) has been roaring since 2014—an unstoppable force born from the city’s underground and built for the global stage. Known for their electric live performances, undeniable chemistry, and fearless creativity, Scam and Jake carry the torch for Detroit hip hop with pride, pushing boundaries while staying rooted in authenticity.
BLS quickly made their mark, winning Best Hip Hop Group at the Detroit Underground Hip Hop Awards and earning a loyal following through sharp lyricism, funky production, and raw, high-energy stage presence. Their first national release, “Party In The Hills” (2016), gained impressive independent traction, establishing them as artists to watch. By 2019, their sound had gone global when they provided the soundtrack for Adidas’ 40th anniversary of the iconic Top Ten sneaker, an international celebration of street culture and style.
When the pandemic slowed live music, BLS kept their momentum alive, completing part of a nationwide tour with Kash Doll and Trina, proving resilience through creativity. Their artistry soon caught the attention of hip hop legend Redman (ranked #43 on Billboard’s Top 50 Emcees list), who not only collaborated with them but also publicly co-signed BLS as a duo destined for greatness.
